About the Game
Gameplay
Fortress Astray is a turn-based strategy game with rogue-like elements. It is your main task to guide a mobile drilling station turned into a city to safety through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. You have to manage sparse resources, unruly subjects, and the uneasy construction of buildings if you want to survive. Greedy bandits and bloodthirsty marauders want nothing more than to pillage and raze your city. Every turn, you have to make tough decisions or risk perishing in the unforgiving badlands.
The World
In this alternative history setting, the vast British Empire merged through royal marriage with the militaristic-focused German Reich. Neither European nor foreign powers could oppose this new nation, and soon the rest of the world would be exploited to feed the ever-burning furnaces and steel mills. In the next 200 years, catastrophic climate changes and glaring social issues fanned the flames of revolution...
Your loyal Advisors
Fortunately you can share the burden of handling the city with your council. There are five seats to fill, which concern the military, logistics, administration, religion and intelligence. The advisors you choose do not only provide benefits, and often penalties, but also impact how you can react to certain situations and events. At the start of the game you have access to ten advisors, two for every council seat, but maybe your travels lead to more potential candidates?
Origin Story
Our development process started with a pitch at the Interdisciplinary Development Project at the Hochschule Trier in May 2022. Since then, our team has worked with a lot of passion on this project and most of us in our spare time. Because we are all gaming fans, we hope to release a game, that brings you as much enjoyment as we had developing it.

We are exited to announce, that Fortress Astray is coming to Gamescom 2023! You can play the tutorial at our booth in the GamesAHEAD e.V. booth in Hall 10.2.

Public Build Download
Here you can download an early developement build of Fortress Astray. We will update the build infrequently. Please note that this build is not an early access version; it's just a way for you to experience the core gameplay loop and get a feel for the game. If available we will also provide a changelog so you can read about the new and improved content that comes with each update.
