The World of Fortress Astray

In this alternative history setting, the vast British Empire merged through royal marriage with the militaristic-focused German Reich. Neither European nor foreign powers could oppose this new nation, and soon the rest of the world would be exploited to feed the ever-burning furnaces and steel mills. In the next 200 years, catastrophic climate changes and glaring social issues fanned the flames of revolution. And finally, in the late 20th century, the government was overthrown by an alliance of working-class idealists, power hungry clergy and secessionist nationalists. The victory was not only costly achieved; it soon turned into desaster. Without a unifying ideal, the factions soon turned against each other, and society collapsed. But the prolonged pollution also took its toll, and corrosive fogs started appearing. Whole regions became uninhabitable and it seems that the time of humanity is over. But some still dare to hope and try to adapt to the new reality while nature tries its best to erase humankind.
